Sometimes you call, and the conversation never gets past “Have you
eaten?”
The questions you actually want to ask keep getting pushed to
next time.
We have been writing about this on this blog for a while.
How do we
hold on to a parent’s voice before it fades?
The starting point we chose was the family conversation itself.
That
is how wiivv, a story-book service for parents, came to be.
How wiivv Works
No formal interview needed.
- Every week, one question arrives on KakaoTalk. (52 questions, from childhood to today)
- Your parent records a voice answer whenever it suits them.
- Those voices and stories become a storybook.
Stories that never surface on a phone call flow easily when someone
answers a single question alone.
What makes wiivv different is that the
voice itself is kept.
Even the small pauses.
Crowdfunding on Wadiz
wiivv launches on Wadiz, Korea’s crowdfunding platform, on Thursday, September 17 at 10am KST, with limited early-bird pricing for the first backers.
What Backers Receive
- The original voice recordings for all 52 questions
- A finished storybook PDF
- Six months of the memory archive (normally a paid add-on, included from the storybook’s completion)
- A mobile invitation card
In Closing
While building this, we asked our own parents these questions for the
first time.
We are not even halfway through, and we are already hearing
stories we never knew.
If you have been looking for a meaningful gift for your parents,
consider giving them their own story this year.
